School history

A significiant part of today’s fire protection officers and workers have passed through the school’s classes in the past. Many of them hold important functions in fire protection. Since its establishment in the year 1967, the school has primarily served the needs of professional firefighters and rescuers. In 1991, a four-year daily study program for elementary school graduates was introduced as a form of continuous and systematic preparation for the profession. A significant milestone in the school’s history can be considered the year 2002 when study at the Higher Vocational School was opened, conducted in a comined formo f study (“distance learning”). The school began education in this type of study as the first school on the Ministry of the Interior’s department.

As of 1 January 2025, the educational institutions of the Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic (FRS CR) were merged into one educational institution – Fire Rescue College. This institution includes training centres located in Frýdek-Místek (two sites), Brno, Zbiroh, and Velké Poříčí.
